They say a picture say a thousand words. How about an animation? Jake and Wes O’Neal are the creative brains and graphic-design brawn behind the amazingly illuminating animations of Animagraffs. In the same spirit as The Way Things Work but with the visual flair of Interactive Simulations, Animagraffs breaks down everyday technological and natural wonders into their component parts to reveal the complexity and beauty of its design.
The content can be very technical at times but because of the power of the visuals and the meticulous breakdown of components, it is very approachable. I envision students summarizing the salient features of the animation for classmates or teachers using it to spark interest in new topics. There are a limited number of animations at the moment but the O’Neal brothers are open to new projects and are accepting donations to continue their amazing work.
